Terms of Use
These Terms govern your use of Aleto. By creating an account, accessing Aleto, or using Aleto, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Community Guidelines.
1. Who we are
Aleto is a location-aware video app operated by its founder from the Netherlands. For support, contact support@aleto.video.
2. Minimum age
Aleto is intended for users aged 16 and older. Do not use Aleto if you are under 16. By using Aleto, you confirm that you meet this minimum age requirement and that you are allowed to use Aleto under the laws that apply to you.
3. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for activity that happens through your account. You must provide accurate account information and must not impersonate another person or create accounts for abusive, misleading, automated, or unlawful purposes.
We may restrict, suspend, or terminate accounts that appear to violate these Terms, our Community Guidelines, platform rules, legal requirements, or the safety and integrity of Aleto.
4. User content
Aleto allows users to upload and share videos, thumbnails, captions, tags, comments, reports, review requests, and other content. You are responsible for the content you upload, post, submit, or make available through Aleto.
You must have the necessary rights and permissions to upload content to Aleto. Do not upload content that violates another person’s privacy, intellectual property rights, publicity rights, image rights, contractual rights, or other legal rights.
You must not upload content that you know or should know is false, misleading, unlawful, harmful, abusive, exploitative, or unsafe.
5. License to operate Aleto
You keep ownership of content you create, but by uploading or submitting content to Aleto, you grant Aleto a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process, display, transmit, distribute, adapt for technical purposes, create thumbnails or previews from, and make your content available through the app and shared Aleto links.
This license is needed to operate the service, show your posts in feeds, generate thumbnails, deliver shared video links, support moderation and safety systems, process reports, maintain backups where applicable, and keep the app functional.
This license continues for as long as needed to operate Aleto, provide shared links, preserve public conversations, comply with legal obligations, maintain security and moderation integrity, or enforce these Terms. If you delete content or your account, some content may be removed, deleted, anonymized, retained, or remain visible in anonymized form as described in our Privacy Policy and Account Deletion page.
6. Public visibility
Aleto is built around shared, location-aware video. Videos, thumbnails, captions, tags, usernames shown on posts, city labels, comments, engagement counts, and shared video links may be visible to other users or people who open shared Aleto links.
Do not upload content that you do not want other users or link viewers to see.
7. Rules of conduct
You agree not to:
- Use Aleto for illegal, harmful, abusive, fraudulent, deceptive, exploitative, or misleading activity.
- Harass, threaten, abuse, bully, stalk, intimidate, shame, or target others.
- Upload hate content, extremist content, terrorist content, or content encouraging violence or real-world harm.
- Upload sexual content involving minors, child sexual abuse or exploitation material, grooming behavior, sextortion, or any content or behavior that exploits, abuses, sexualizes, or endangers children.
- Upload nudity, pornography, sexually explicit content, sexual solicitation, non-consensual intimate content, creepshots, hidden-camera sexual content, or content intended primarily for sexual gratification.
- Upload graphic gore, instructions for serious harm, self-harm encouragement, dangerous challenges, or content that creates real-world danger.
- Promote scams, illegal goods or services, weapons misuse, drugs, tobacco, alcohol misuse, or other regulated, restricted, unsafe, or dangerous activity.
- Post private information about others without permission, including addresses, phone numbers, private identifiers, private messages, sensitive personal information, or content that enables harassment or doxxing.
- Violate another person’s intellectual property, privacy, publicity, image, or other legal rights.
- Spam, manipulate engagement, use bots, create fake activity, mass-report abusively, abuse review tools, or interfere with the service.
- Attempt to bypass security, rate limits, moderation, App Check, account restrictions, or access controls.
- Reverse engineer, scrape, attack, overload, disrupt, probe, or misuse Aleto systems, Firebase resources, app links, shared links, or public web pages.
- Use Aleto in a way that could damage Aleto, other users, the public, or the integrity of the service.
8. Community Guidelines
You must follow the Aleto Community Guidelines. We may remove content, hide content, restrict accounts, reject review requests, suspend accounts, terminate accounts, limit features, or take other action if content or behavior violates our rules or creates risk for users, Aleto, platform providers, or the public.
9. Moderation and reporting
Aleto may use user reports, automated systems, administrator review, rate limits, App Check, safety tooling, and other abuse-prevention measures to protect the service. Reported content may be hidden, reviewed, restored, removed, or kept restricted.
Moderation decisions may not always be perfect. We may act on content, accounts, reports, review requests, or other signals when we believe action is needed for safety, legal compliance, platform compliance, abuse prevention, or service integrity.
Users may report content or behavior that appears to violate these Terms or the Community Guidelines using the in-app reporting tools where available, or by contacting support@aleto.video.
10. Account deletion
You can delete your account from the Aleto app under Settings → Delete account. If you cannot access the app, you can request deletion using the instructions at aleto.video/account-deletion.
Account deletion may delete or anonymize your account profile data. Some public content, reports, moderation records, security records, legal records, backup data, or abuse-prevention records may remain temporarily or legally where needed to protect users, preserve public conversations, maintain moderation integrity, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce these Terms.
11. No ads or paid subscriptions at launch
Aleto does not currently show ads and does not currently offer paid subscriptions or in-app payments. This may change in the future, and if it does, we will update the relevant terms and disclosures.
12. Service availability
Aleto is provided as an early-stage service. We may change, suspend, limit, restrict, or discontinue parts of the app or web experience at any time. We do not guarantee that Aleto will always be available, error-free, secure, uninterrupted, or compatible with every device, network, browser, operating system, app store, or third-party service.
13. Third-party services
Aleto relies on third-party services such as Firebase, Google Cloud, app stores, device operating systems, browsers, network providers, and other infrastructure providers. Aleto is not responsible for outages, changes, restrictions, errors, data handling, or decisions made by third-party services outside our control.
14. Termination
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to Aleto if we believe you have violated these Terms, our Community Guidelines, legal requirements, platform requirements, or the safety and integrity of the service.
You may stop using Aleto at any time and may delete your account through the in-app deletion flow or the account deletion request process.
15. Disclaimers
Aleto is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, reliability, accuracy, security, compatibility, and uninterrupted operation.
Aleto does not guarantee that user content is accurate, safe, legal, complete, appropriate, or available. User content is created by users, not by Aleto.
16. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Aleto and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, content, profits, goodwill, business opportunities, reputation, or service access.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for intentional misconduct, gross negligence, or mandatory consumer rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.
17. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to be responsible for claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses arising from your content, your misuse of Aleto, your violation of these Terms or the Community Guidelines, or your violation of another person’s rights.
18. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without limiting any mandatory consumer protection rights that may apply in your country of residence.
19. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Aleto changes. The latest version will be available at aleto.video/terms. Continued use of Aleto after updated Terms become available means you accept the updated Terms, unless applicable law requires a different process.
