Terms of Use

Effective date: 22 August 2026

These Terms govern your access to and use of Aleto. By creating an account, accessing Aleto, or using Aleto, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Community Guidelines.

1. Operator

Aleto is operated by Laconic Tech, an eenmanszaak registered in the Netherlands.

2. Minimum age

Aleto is intended only for users aged 18 and older. Do not create an account or use Aleto if you are under 18.

By creating an account, accepting these Terms, or continuing to use Aleto, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and are legally permitted to use Aleto under the laws that apply to you.

Existing users may be required to confirm that they are at least 18 years old and accept the current Terms, Community Guidelines, and Privacy Policy before continuing to use Aleto.

3. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for activity that occurs through your account.

You must provide accurate account information and must not impersonate another person, misrepresent your identity, or create accounts for abusive, deceptive, automated, fraudulent, or unlawful purposes.

We may restrict, suspend, or terminate accounts that appear to violate these Terms, our Community Guidelines, applicable law, platform requirements, or the safety and integrity of Aleto.

4. User content

Aleto allows users to upload and share videos, thumbnails, captions, tags, comments, reports, moderation-review requests, and other content.

You are responsible for content that you upload, record, post, submit, or otherwise make available through Aleto.

You must have all rights, permissions, and legal authority needed to upload or share your content.

You must not upload content that violates another person's intellectual-property rights, privacy rights, publicity rights, image rights, contractual rights, or other legal rights.

You must not upload content that you know, or reasonably should know, is false, misleading, unlawful, harmful, abusive, exploitative, or unsafe.

5. Licence granted for user content

You retain ownership of content you create. By uploading, recording, posting, or submitting content through Aleto, you grant Laconic Tech a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to:

• Host, store, copy, process, and transmit your content.
• Display and distribute your content through Aleto.
• Make your content available through feeds, profiles, local city views, shared links, and the Aleto web player.
• Adapt, encode, compress, resize, or otherwise process content for technical and compatibility purposes.
• Create thumbnails, previews, and related technical assets.
• Review and process content for moderation, reporting, safety, security, legal, and abuse-prevention purposes.

This licence is required to operate Aleto and provide its functionality. It does not transfer ownership of your content to Laconic Tech.

The licence continues for as long as reasonably necessary to operate Aleto, provide shared links, preserve public conversations, process reports, maintain security and moderation integrity, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce these Terms.

If you delete content or your account, content may be deleted, anonymized, retained, or remain visible in anonymized form as described in our Privacy Policy and Account Deletion page.

6. Public visibility

Aleto is designed around public and shared location-aware video. Videos, thumbnails, captions, tags, usernames displayed on posts, city labels, comments, engagement counts, and shared video links may be visible to other users or to people who open shared Aleto links.

Do not upload content or personal information that you do not want other users or link viewers to see.

7. Rules of conduct

You agree not to:

• Use Aleto for illegal, harmful, abusive, fraudulent, deceptive, exploitative, or misleading activity.
• Harass, threaten, abuse, bully, stalk, intimidate, shame, or target another person.
• Upload hateful, extremist, terrorist, or violent content, or content that encourages real-world harm.
• Upload child sexual abuse material, sexual content involving minors, grooming content, sextortion content, or any content that exploits, sexualizes, abuses, or endangers children.
• Upload pornography, sexually explicit content, sexual solicitation, non-consensual intimate content, creepshots, hidden-camera sexual content, or content intended primarily for sexual gratification.
• Upload graphic gore, instructions for serious harm, encouragement of self-harm, dangerous challenges, or content that creates a substantial real-world risk.
• Promote scams, illegal goods or services, weapons misuse, illegal drugs, tobacco, alcohol misuse, or other regulated, restricted, unsafe, or dangerous activity.
• Publish private information about another person without permission, including addresses, phone numbers, private identifiers, private messages, sensitive personal information, or information that facilitates harassment or doxxing.
• Violate another person's intellectual-property, privacy, publicity, image, or other legal rights.
• Spam, manipulate engagement, use bots, create fake activity, submit abusive reports, misuse review tools, or interfere with the service.
• Attempt to bypass security controls, rate limits, moderation, App Check, account restrictions, or access controls.
• Reverse engineer, scrape, attack, overload, disrupt, probe, or misuse Aleto systems, Firebase resources, web pages, app links, or shared links.
• Use Aleto in a way that could harm Aleto, its users, Laconic Tech, service providers, or the public.

8. Community Guidelines

You must follow the Aleto Community Guidelines.

We may remove or hide content, restrict features, reject review requests, suspend or terminate accounts, or take other action if content or conduct violates our rules or creates risk for users, Aleto, Laconic Tech, service providers, or the public.

9. Moderation and reporting

Aleto may use user reports, automated systems, administrator review, rate limits, App Check, audit records, and other abuse-prevention or safety measures.

Reported content may be hidden, reviewed, restored, removed, or kept restricted.

Moderation decisions may not always be perfect. We may act on content, accounts, reports, review requests, or other signals where we reasonably believe action is required for safety, legal compliance, platform compliance, abuse prevention, or service integrity.

Users may report content or conduct through the in-app reporting tools where available, or by contacting support@aleto.video.

10. Account and content deletion

You can request deletion of your account from the Aleto app under Settings → Account → Delete account.

If you cannot access the app, you can submit a deletion request using the instructions at aleto.video/account-deletion.

Account deletion may delete or anonymize your account and profile information. Some public content, reports, moderation records, audit records, security records, legal records, backup data, or abuse-prevention records may remain where reasonably necessary to:

• Protect users and platform safety.
• Preserve public conversations.
• Maintain moderation and reporting integrity.
• Comply with legal obligations.
• Resolve disputes or enforce these Terms.
• Maintain backups and security records.

Deleting an account does not necessarily delete every public video or record associated with that account. Individual posts can be deleted separately through the app where that functionality is available.

11. Current monetization

Aleto does not currently show advertising and does not currently offer paid subscriptions, paid downloads, or in-app purchases.

This may change in the future. If paid features, advertising, or other monetization are introduced, we will update applicable disclosures, policies, and terms where required.

12. Service availability and changes

Aleto is an early-stage service. We may update, change, suspend, restrict, limit, or discontinue parts of the app or web experience.

We do not guarantee that Aleto will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or compatible with every device, operating system, browser, network, app store, or third-party service.

13. Third-party services

Aleto relies on third-party services and infrastructure, including Firebase, Google Cloud, Google Play, device operating systems, browsers, telecommunications networks, and internet-service providers.

Laconic Tech is not responsible for outages, restrictions, changes, data handling, service decisions, or errors caused by third-party services outside its reasonable control.

14. Suspension and termination

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to Aleto if we reasonably believe that you have violated these Terms, our Community Guidelines, applicable law, platform requirements, or the safety and integrity of the service.

If your Aleto account is suspended and you believe the decision was incorrect, you may request human review through the Account Suspension Appeal page. An appeal does not guarantee reinstatement.

You may stop using Aleto at any time and may request account deletion through the in-app deletion flow or the web-based account deletion process.

15. Disclaimers

Aleto is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Laconic Tech disclaims warranties regarding availability, reliability, accuracy, security, compatibility, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted operation.

Aleto does not guarantee that user-generated content is accurate, complete, safe, legal, appropriate, or continuously available. User-generated content is created and submitted by users, not by Laconic Tech.

16. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Laconic Tech will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive losses, or for loss of data, content, profits, goodwill, business opportunities, reputation, or access to the service.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability that cannot be excluded under mandatory consumer-protection law.

17. Responsibility for claims

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you are responsible for claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses arising from:

• Your content.
• Your misuse of Aleto.
• Your violation of these Terms or the Community Guidelines.
• Your violation of another person's rights.

18. Governing law and consumer rights

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands.

This choice of law does not deprive consumers of mandatory protections that apply under the laws of their country of residence.

19. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms when Aleto, its functionality, applicable law, platform requirements, or our business practices change.

The current version will remain available at aleto.video/terms.

Where appropriate or legally required, we will provide additional notice of material changes. If applicable law requires express consent to a change, we will request that consent.

20. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
